Our pro-active Eco-Team

10th Nov 2017

Today, John Murtagh from Magherafelt Mid-Ulster District Council, came in to visit our Eco-Team. He presented the children with their new Eco T-shirts & gave them information leaflets to give to every family in our school. It's so important to spread our knowledge about how we can be more Eco-friendly to our families and entire community.

Niamh and Aine recorded the minutes of our meeting while others told John about everything we have been up to. We have put "switch me off" signs beside our lights, computers and taps. We have brown bins in every classroom for food waste and we received a large brown bin for our school. Today we also received thermometers for each classroom to make sure the temperature is just right. If it is too hot we know we can request the heat to be switched off easily.

Next we hope to get two bins for outside our school for break time and we hope John can return to give the whole school a practical lesson on how plastic is recycled and what to put into our recycling bins.

A very busy first term for Eco-schools. Well done everyone.
