Our Eco-School council get to action
Yesterday our Eco-Council were busy at work meeting with John Murtagh from the Mid Ulster Council. He met with the children and discussed how we, as a whole school, can achieve the first Eco-School award, the bronze flag. We highlighted our concerns and areas we want to improve. So far we now have brown bins in every classroom for our food waste and John will be back to educate the children on what the correct things are to put in the blue and brown bins.
As a way to save energy the children decided it would be a good idea to have one nominated pupil become an "Energy monitor" in each classroom. The energy monitor will be changed each week and that person is in charge of turning off their whiteboard, class computers and lights. Some children in the Eco-Council today made "Please switch off the light!" labels to put beside our light switches as a reminder for everyone to be more energy efficient.
Look out for our blue and brown bin leaflets Aine & Niamh requested on your behalf when they emailed John Murtagh. Well done everyone!
